In the history, Croatia was always on the crossroads between East and West, Christianity and Islam, Balkan and Mediterraneo.

Through the centuries Croatia create variety music and she didn't run away from those roots, but she also didn't have any possibilities to walk away from different foreign impacts. That's reason way Croatian roots music today knows bag-pipes, accordions, tambours (string instrument), clarinet, sopile (istrian long flute) and violins.

Croatian roots music heritage is very old, genuine and still preserved. From that reason, the biggest Croatian publishing house "Croatia Records", wish to keep all those historical resources, decide to start new label named "Croatian Roots Music" dedicate to Croatian ethno music. With this project "Croatia Records" want to gather all the best ethno musicians, like: Tamara Obrovac, Livio Morosin, Miroslav Evacic, Cinkusi, Ziga and others, who taking care of those roots for several years.

One part of those Croatian heritage we presents on this pages which is just a little part of all Croatian cultural treasure. In Croatia, you can find lot of different areas (Zagorje, Podravina, Slavonia, Dalmatia...), and everyone have their own special music utterance. With this web site we tried to presents all Croatian areas, so we pick up musicians from every part of our beautiful country.
